An Evening in Laurel Canyon

Overlooking the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip, Laurel Canyon hosted a community of musicians through the 1960’s and 70’s forming a hive of creativity in the age of hippies and flower power. Among Laurel Canyon’s residents were the likes of Neil Young, James Taylor, The Byrds, The Mamas & The Papas, Eagles, The Doors, Carole King, Frank Zappa, Jackson Browne, Cat Stevens and Joni Mitchell.

Performed by a live 6-piece band with vocals, in the first half of these concerts you will hear music from the artists listed above as well as many other Laurel Canyon residents during this time.

In the second half, the band will perform an album or artist from the Laurel Canyon era. At present, we perform Carole King’s Tapestry, Joni Mitchell’s Blue, and the best of The Doors.

Our Shows

Of all the albums released at this time in the Laurel Canyon community, Carole King’s 1971 masterpiece Tapestry, arguably, sums up this counterculture best. It is a statement of togetherness, love in all its forms, feminism, and endless hope for the future.

A songwriting masterclass, Joni Mitchell’s 1971 album Blue includes some of Joni's finest work including Little Green, River, A Case of You and California.

Featuring the band’s wide musical influences of Pop, Jazz, R&B, Rock, Blues and Classical, The Doors are viewed as an essential must-hear psychedelic band that have influenced so many artists since their inception – well worth seeing performed live!
