Overlooking the hustle and bustle of LA’s Sunset Strip, Laurel Canyon became the beating heart of a musical revolution during the 1960s and 70s - a secluded hillside community where songwriting giants gathered, collaborated and shaped the sound of a generation.
This iconic enclave was home to some of the most influential artists in music history, including Neil Young, James Taylor, The Byrds, The Mamas & The Papas, Eagles, The Doors, Carole King, Frank Zappa, Jackson Browne, Cat Stevens and Joni Mitchell.
Now brought to life by a powerful live six-piece band with vocals, the first half of the concert celebrates the spirit of Laurel Canyon through unforgettable songs from these legendary artists and many others who defined the era.
In the second half, the show dives deeper into the music that made history, performing complete albums and curated sets from the Laurel Canyon community. Current productions include Carole King’s Tapestry, Joni Mitchell’s Blue and a high-energy “Best of The Doors” performance.
A tribute to a golden age of songwriting — raw, intimate and timeless.
The Shows
Of all the albums released at this time in the Laurel Canyon community, Carole King’s 1971 masterpiece, Tapestry, arguably sums up this counterculture best. It is a statement of togetherness, love in all its forms, feminism, and endless hope for the future.
A songwriting masterclass, Joni Mitchell’s 1971 album Blue includes some of Joni's finest work including Little Green, River, A Case of You, California and many more.
Featuring the band’s wide musical influences of Pop, Jazz, R&B, Rock, Blues and Classical, The Doors are viewed as an essential must-hear psychedelic band that have influenced so many artists since their inception.

My husband and I went to the Barnfield Theatre in Exeter last night to see An Evening in Laurel Canyon and we were blown away by how good the show was! The band members are all extremely talented, able to play a variety of instruments each, and the singing was fantastic. For such young people they really held their own on the stage. Both the female singers have a beautiful voices for the songs they were playing, and Alice doing the whole of the Tapestry album was just superb. We absolutely enjoyed the show and will look out for your next shows. Well done! - Toni Robarts - Facebook Review
